EASHWARAMMA CELEBRATIONS
How lucky we are to know
the mother of the Avatar, Mother Eashwaramma.
The 6th of May,
Swami has declared as Eashwaramma Day for all the children around the
world.
Leicester Sai Centre decided to join with
Narborough Sai Centre to celebrate ‘Eashwaramma Day’. The Sai children
from each centre planned and practised a play. This play consisted of
characters from Swami’s childhood and how Mother Eashwaramma coped with
different situations. This play was to show how Swami grew up with his
mother by his side, and as he grew older, he moved away from her. The play
was to show the audience how simple Mother Eashwaramma was and how she
sacrificed her son for the devotees. Even though Swami left home, his
family, Mother Eashwaramma always had a loving attitude towards all the
new changes and served those who were old, young and the poor with love.
As the mother of the Avatar, she is a true example of a devoted mother.
In the play, I
was instructed to organise the music. As the children practised the scenes
and memorised the dialogues, I realised that conducting a play isn’t easy
without Swami’s grace. As the weeks went by practising and acting, I could
see that the jigsaw puzzle was finally coming together. I enjoyed working
with those who came from Narborough Sai Centre who I didn’t know but I saw
them as part of our own Sai Centre.
The Sai children
worked very hard at the play, showing Swami’s life and his relationship
with his mother. They even sacrificed their ‘Bank Holiday’ to practise the
play. Finally I could see the play coming together, and knew it was going
to work out perfectly.
6th of
May finally arrived. Devotees from Narborough and Leicester Central
gathered at the Sanathan hall.
The programme
commenced with Devotional songs sung by the children, and then the Sai
Children performed a fantastic play. The youth along with SSE children
sang as a choir, and the Gurus entertained us with a quiz.. Throughout the
programme, we also learnt about other “Mothers”. I thank all the people
who made the celebrations such a success.

Bombay Dreams
What started as a “Sathya Service Group” activity,
ended up being an eventful outing for the Centre devotees and friends. On
the 25th of May, 91 of us went on this exciting journey to the
Capital to see the show everyone had been talking about. The play was
vibrant, the music by A R Rahman was great, and the sets were amazing.
The show was great, but the company was even better!

Ladies Day
On Monday 19th
of May, many ladies from the Centre, and their friends went along to the
Ladies Forum at Soar Valley College.
Pushpaben Parmar showed them how to
decorate a coconut and kalash, and then Balaben Mayor demonstrated glass
painting. The ladies all had opportunities to have a go themselves, and
everyone thoroughly enjoyed the sessions.
The June session will
look at the significance of certain rituals that take place in a Hindu
wedding ceremony. Please make a note of the date and come along:

Book Review

Many people have read
or still read the “Shirdi Sai Sathcharithra” as their sadhana. But did you
know that there is now available, a book called “Tapovanam”, a Sri
Sathya Sai Sathcharithra. It is the story of the Sacred Life of Bhagawan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Most of the gurus read it last year as their sadhana
in seven days, and every single one said they thoroughly enjoyed the
experience.
