Eashwaramma Day 2006 at our Centre

Eashwaramma ‘the Mother of our Lord Sri Sathya Sai Baba’, she loved all children and all the Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) children started the day by giving their love through the beautiful bhajans they sang to start off the programme for this very special day.  The bhajans included, Mother O’ Mother Sai Maa and This Little Light of Mine and they really did let their little lights shine!

After the beautiful bhajans, Navinbhai who had the special opportunity of studying at Baba’s educational institute spoke of his experience of actually being there when Mother Eashwaramma left her physical body and how Baba reacted with total love but no attachment and ensured that all scheduled programs continued.  This soul churning talk truly did make you think about how we should conduct our lives and learn to act without attachment.

Sister Bharti who had the unique opportunity of studying at Baba’s Anantapur Girls School inspired us all with an eloquent talk which touched everyone’s heart.  She explained how Baba describes Motherhood and that the key qualities which Mother Eashwaramma had were total purity, no trace of ego and was full of sacrifice, and it was due to her pure character that she had the wonderful opportunity of being the ‘Mother of the Lord’.

Sister Bharti spoke about the 3 desires/wishes that Mother Eashwaramma had, and how they were totally selfless.

  • Mother Eashwaramma asked Baba for a school in the village providing free education – through this one request so many students are now benefiting and Puttaparthi now provides graduate and post-graduate courses at its University!

  • Her other request was for a hospital providing free medical care – now so many people benefit from not just a hospital but in addition two Super Speciality Hospitals!

  • Mother Eashwaramma also asked for clean drinking water so that the villagers would not have to travel far and carry heavy buckets of water – now not only the residents but also every visitor benefits from the pure clean drinking water provided.

Sister Bharti also reminded us how this was an example for us all and that we should always satisfy our Mothers and fulfil her requests just like Baba did.  Sister Bharti explained how if we make our Mother content then God is content and we will be seen by all as a person of character.

Sister Bharti finished with a story of Baba’s compassion, where one of the girls at the school accidentally pressed the play button rather than the record button during a programme which played some loud music.  Baba at the time spoke to her sternly to let her know of her mistake, but she was so hurt she cried through the whole talk.  Baba at the end asked the girl to help him give out calendars, everyone had one except for her.  But Baba said ‘This one is for you’ and gave the girl the last calendar that was left which was in a special plastic wallet.  Later when she looked in the plastic wallet behind the calendar was a little card with a heart and a picture of a plaster to fix the heart saying ‘I am sorry’.  What a beautiful story and the whole hall resounded with the sound of ‘ahhhhhhh’ showing how touched we all were by Baba’s compassion during this event – He truly is the perfect example of a Mother.  Let us all pray to become his ideal children.
