Easter Celebrations at Leicester Central Centre, Region 4, UK
The Sri Sathya Sai Service Organisation UK Leicester Central Centre and the parish Church of St. Gabriel's organised a joint event to celebrate Easter. It was held at Soar Valley Community College, where the centre meets weekly for GDS, Study Circles and SSE Classes. The Easter event was attended by devotees of the Centre, the congregation of the Church and the Lord Bishop Leicester, Tim Stevenson. The Lord Bishop of Leicester, from the Church of England, is also a member of the House of Lords. This is the second year that the Lord Bishop of Leicester has visited the Sri Sathya Sai Centre at Easter.
The SSSSO UK, Leicester Central Centre, has for the past few years invited a member of a local church to give a message of Easter at their regular Sunday meeting on Easter Sunday.
The Easter programme:- GDS (Group Devotional Singing – Bhajans) Reading from the Bible Singing by the Church choir Address by Reverend Anand of the Parish. Singing by the Youth + SSE Children Easter message by Lord Bishop of Leicester The programme concluded with the Aarti and chanting of “Lokasmasatha ………” in English and this was followed with morning Tea and Refreshments for everyone
The Bishop address to the gathering spoke of the importance of the resurrection at Easter and how it affects the Christian faith but more to the point that it is not just for Christians but a revelation to all. He was extremely pleased with the program and asked that we should continue this event in the future. In the vote of thanks by the Chairperson of Churches Together, it was also suggested that we should undertake more events such as these in the future as they emphasise the importance of unity.
The whole atmosphere was spiritually charged with the singing and the message of the significance of the Easter. The devotees and guests left energised and were offered a small chocolate Easter Egg on departure
The programme concluded at 10:00am and everyone was invited to attend the Church service where Father Malcolm at the St. Gabriel's parish church once again expressed their warm thoughts about the “Sai Baba Community”.
