Swami's Birthday Celebrations
The Planning
This year was Swami's 79th Birthday and in the Centre we started
activities leading up to the Birthday from 6 September i.e. 79 days to the Birthday.
Ceiling on Desire, co-ordinated by Shirishbhai & Narendrabhai. Everyone
was able to join in this activity and the savings made were donated to the
Nation Building Projects being supported by our Centre - Eye to Sai & Sai
Schools - and for the Food Parcels for refugee camp in Croatia.
Vedam Chanting, co-ordinated by Pratibhaben & Bhanuben. This was an
opportunity to learn Vedic Slokas. A CD was provided to everyone
to practise at home. Every week, there was opportunity to learn 2/3 Slokas.
Sai Teachings, co-ordinated by Narendrabhai & SSE Gurus. This was based around the
Nine Points of Conduct. Practical tips on practice of this code was provided.
On Swami's Birthday, a Tuesday, there was a morning programme (at Ram Mandir )
starting at 6:00. Programme included 21 Omkars, Suprabhatam and Bhajans - co-ordinators were
Satishbhai & Bhanuben. The evening programme started at 7:30 - co-ordinators are Bipinbhai & Pushpaben. The evening programme consisted of Vedam Chanting, Bhajans, a talk by Dr Dhirubhai Gadhia, and Birthday Cake cutting.
On Sunday before the birthday, 21 November, there were service activities, from 10:00 to 4:00. One of the activities was preparing Family Parcels for refugees in Croatia.
Three other activities were planned - two at elderly homes (Curtis Weston from 10:30 to 12:00 & John Calvert Home from 2:00 to 4:00) and third at Nature Reserve Park in Oadby from 1:30 to 4:00.
